Checking ink & printhead compatibility

Understand the difference between a printhead family and an exact printer configuration, and prepare the details needed for compatibility confirmation.

A family name is not an exact machine approval

The catalogue may identify a printhead family or model for an ink series. That does not by itself confirm every printer containing a related head: the installed head version, ink delivery arrangement and intended chemistry must also match the application.

Prepare a compatibility enquiry

  1. Full printer manufacturer and model; include the installed head model if the machine has been modified.
  2. Exact printhead identification, not only “Epson”, “Ricoh” or another manufacturer.
  3. Current ink series, chemistry and colour configuration.
  4. Cartridge, bottle or pouch details, including required volume and connection.
  5. Substrate and intended output; include curing or transfer-system identification where relevant.
  6. The Colibri series under consideration and any published document you are comparing.

Send these details to [email protected]. If the exact configuration is not covered by the published specification, request confirmation rather than extrapolating from a similar head or series.

Common questions

Does an empty compatibility filter mean the ink is compatible with everything?

No. Missing information means the exact compatibility has not been established in that field. It is not universal approval.

Does a third-party brand name imply endorsement?

No. A compatibility reference identifies a product or configuration. It does not by itself establish an official relationship, endorsement or printer-manufacturer approval.

Can the selection guide replace a TDS or SDS?

No. These pages help you prepare an enquiry. Use the current technical, safety and machine instructions for the exact product and application.
